Here are all the countries Queen Elizabeth has visited over the past 70 years

Queen Elizabeth II , who died on Thursday evening, was perhaps the best travel monarch in history. In her 70 years as Queen of the United Kingdom , Her Majesty has apparently traveled to at least 117 different countries — and has traveled more than a million miles, according to The Telegraph.
The Queen traveled for many reasons, from ceremonial openings to state visits to the state, but she wandered a lot primarily because she was head of state of the Commonwealth: a political association of countries largely occupied by Britain when it was an empire.

In fact, Elizabeth II was not only Queen of the United Kingdom: During her time on the throne, she ruled a total of 32 sovereign nations. Having begun her rule in the last years of the British Empire, she ruled a number of former British colonies as they became independent sovereign nations. Many, but not all, broke off from the monarchy and became republics.

Queen Elizabeth II has ruled, at various points, Antigua and Barbuda, Australia , the Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada, Ceylon (later Sri Lanka), Fiji, The Gambia, Ghana, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Kenya, Malawi, Malta, Mauritius, New Zealand and Nigeria Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent, the Grenadines, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Tanganyika (later Tanzania), Trinidad and Tobago, Tuvalu, Uganda and, of course, the United Kingdom. Rhodesia, the predecessor of Zimbabwe, has also been declared queen.

By the time of her death, she was still the queen of 15 countries: Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, the Bahamas, Belize, Canada, Grenada, Jamaica, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the Solomon Islands, Tuvalu and the United Kingdom. She was Queen of Barbados until November 2021, when the Caribbean nation became a republic.

As you'd expect, the Queen visited all of these places - and so much more - during her 70-year reign. Here is a complete list of all the countries and countries the Queen has traveled to during her reign, and the dates of her visit.
